San Diego Chamber Orchestra Appoints New Executive Director
The San Diego Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce Tyler
Richards Hewes as its newly appointed Executive Director. Mr. Hewes'
role will be to work closely with Artistic Director and Conductor
Jung-Ho Pak as he oversees the administrative operations of the
Orchestra and to further the strategic advancement of the organization.
"I am honored for this opportunity to work with Jung-Ho Pak to lead the Orchestra into a new era of artistic and administrative excellence. Our team is committed to creating an unforgettable experience for our guests, filled with drama, beauty and virtuosity," says Mr. Hewes.
Maestro Pak states, "I am very excited about having Tyler as my new business and artistic partner. He brings several important qualities to our organization: First, he's an excellent administrator who knows how to get things done in a powerful way; second, he has a very strong arts and theater background which fits my own desire to create unforgettably dramatic experiences for our guests; and, finally, his fresh perspective represents a new generation of concert goers. I am very happy that we will be able to continue the enormous success that we are currently enjoying."
Mr. Hewes was Production Manager with Mainly Mozart (San Diego, CA), as well as manager of the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra. During his time at Mainly Mozart, Mr. Hewes oversaw a dramatic increase in that company's education program (a 100% increase in the number of students reached), doubled the income of the annual Gala auction and produced over two hundred separate concerts and events.
Mr. Hewes, originally of Bethel, Connecticut, received his Bachelor of the Arts in Theatre from Eastern Connecticut State University. He has worked with several San Diego area theatres, including the North Coast Repertory Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, OnStage Playhouse and Actors Alliance of San Diego.
Gary Phillips, President of the Orchestra's Board of Directors, says, "We are thrilled to have Tyler on board as we move into a new era with our 25th anniversary this year. We are confident that he is just the person we need to build upon our recent successes of sold-out concerts and the very positive 'buzz' surrounding our Orchestra today."
Mr. Hewes' love of theatre and classical music meld well with the vision of Artistic Director, Jung-Ho Pak. They share the vision that concerts should be more than just an evening of "classical" music, but an opportunity for audiences to experience something truly extraordinary, dramatic and emotional.
