New Program Series, For the Love of Music, To Be Launched in Rancho Santa Fe

Hosted by Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra

The San Diego Chamber Orchestra and the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center are partnering to anchor a new program series, "For the Love of Music," at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Modeled after the format of the Bravo TV show, "Inside the Actors' Studio," the series will be hosted by Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra and will feature a guest on each program.

The first program of the series on February 12 will feature Valerie Scher, San Diego Union-Tribune's Classical Music Critic, as an on-stage guest. She will discuss the insider's life of a music reviewer in today's world of media. The audience will be given the opportunity to ask questions during the last few minutes of the program.

Jung-Ho Pak is in his second year as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra where he and the Orchestra have been creating a sensation with his vision of bringing the joy of classical music to everyone, young and old, through creative and innovative programming as well as a more personal interaction between musicians and audience members.

Valerie Scher, well-known in the San Diego area as Music Critic for the San Diego Union-Tribune, grew up in Chicago, received a Bachelor's degree in performance piano and a Master's in music history at Northwestern University before completing course work for a Ph.D. in music history. She began writing for the Chicago Sun-Times and the Philadelphia Inquirer, among other publications, then moved to San Diego in 1984 when she became Music and Dance Critic at the San Diego Tribune. With the merger of The Tribune and Union in 1992, she became the Classical Music Critic, a position she continues to hold.

The Series is sponsored by The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.
