Maestro Pak and his Orchestra Nova musicians will kick off 2010 with a unique concert that features Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and Air On A G String in addition to the music of four (and maybe five?) of his gifted children, some of whom broke nearly as much new ground in the world of music as their famous father.

Orchestra Nova's Spotlight: Team Member Sam Miller

It was panic time for two of our guests, one of them on oxygen, after a concert at St. Paul's. Almost everyone had left the cathedral as they frantically hunted for their car keys. Long-time Orchestra Nova volunteer usher Sam Miller took charge. She pulled out her phone and dialed AAA, using her membership number. The AAA truck arrived and, after it was discovered that the keys were lying on the seat inside the locked car, retrieved them.

Sam exemplifies the Orchestra Nova team's focus on providing an extraordinary "total experience" from the time guests order a ticket until they leave the concert. Thank you, Sam!

Nova Out and About

Whoopi Goldberg and Abigail Breslin had the opportunity to work with our own Jung-Ho Pak when he conducted Disneyworld's Holiday Concert at Epcot Center in Florida in December, some of which was subsequently shown on ABC's The View. He also conducted the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra's Holiday Concert and earlier this month, he conducted the Oregon All-State Orchestra.

Executive director Tyler Richards Hewes has been asked to serve as a member of the Steering Committee for the Emerging Leaders by the San Diego Foundation and the San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture. He is also on the planning committee for the 2015 Balboa Park Centennial Celebration. And SDNN just listed him as one of its designated 35 Community Leaders Under 35.

Director of Marketing Beverly Lambert will present "Meet the Bach Boys" at La Costa Glen in Carlsbad on Friday, January 28, at 3:00 p.m.
