Nova Intimately: an unforgettable experience! As always, Orchestra Nova delivers timeless classics while expanding your musical horizons.

The theme of love is explored through the works of various composers including Claude Debussy's Prelude to Afternoon of a Faun, Richard Wagner's romantic Siegfried Idyll, a surprisingly melodic piece from Arnold Schoenberg's early days and one from renowned Latin American composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.

To top off this enthralling set, stunning vocals from the young Maria Lozano (winner of last season's The Next Star competition) will delight with a composition that is a fusion of Bach and Latin American folk music. Nova Intimately celebrates the expression of love, from romantic to maternal. Join us in celebrating the many shades of this incredible emotion. More information.

Kids cheering at the 2010 Music Bee

Spring is fast approaching and that means it's almost time for the Hunter Family Music Memory program's 2011 Music Bee! Students from 33 schools across San Diego County are busy learning the final selections in the sixteen-piece program and preparing for this year-end contest.

The competition will take place in the Birch North Park Theater on Wednesday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m.. Tickets are free of charge and parents, friends and fellow students not participating in the contest are urged to sit in the cheering section and cheer on their school's team!

Orchestra Nova's newest music education program, Take 5 for Music, is being introduced in schools across the county. It is a listening-based program with a focus on music appreciation. Students listen to classical music for five minutes a day, five days a's the perfect start to their day and an essential tool for helping students focus. Orchestra Nova has added many new schools this season as a result of our concert-poster raffles - thank you for buying raffle tickets!

The annual CMEA "Tune Up Festival" is taking place on March 4 and 5 at Madison High School. Nearly twenty student orchestras participate in the Festival and are lucky to receive not only direction from Jung-Ho Pak, but also one-on-one time with Orchestra Nova's string players.

On March 6, Jung-Ho visits the Poway Orchestra Festival to work with middle school student orchestras and their conductors.
