Loved by generation after generation of classical music devotees, Handel’s music has only grown more popular since his death 250 years ago, and this concert promises to be one of the favorites of the season.

'The Orchestra will be joined for Handel’s Organ Concerto by Carol Williams, an internationally renowned organist who became the first female civic organist appointed in the United States when she was appointed to the position of San Diego civic organist and artistic director of the Spreckels Organ Society.

Greg Maldonado, founder and music director of the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, a critically claimed organization, will be the guest conductor for these concerts. His orchestra has been featured on NPR and has performed at festivals throughout the United States and Europe.

Selections from Handel’s Water Music and Music for Royal Fireworks will also be performed, in addition to his Overture and Entrance of the Queen of Sheba from the opera Solomon and Concerto Grosso, Opus 3, No. 2.

The concert in Rancho Santa Fe is generously supported by Merrill Lynch.

We thank Matt and Ellen Burkhart, David and Arianne Galluccio and Robert and Teresa O'Connor for their generous support of the guest conductor for this concert.

'By any measurement, The Magic of Music gala, San Diego Chamber Orchestra’s annual fundraising event, under the leadership of event chairs Elaine Darwin and Teresa O'Connor, held at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa on Saturday night, March 28, was a stunning success.

Local TV personalities Kimberly King, Mistress of Ceremonies, and Bill Menish, Auctioneer, kept the audience entertained and “on their toes” during a fast-paced evening of live auctions, silent auctions, dinner and dancing to the music of The Heroes - and just plain fun!

A short film was presented about the season’s successes, with a focus on Maestro Jung-Ho Pak’s passion for music education in the schools. Anchored by the Orchestra’s Frances Hunter Music Memory program, kicked off in the fall of 2008 for thousands of San Diego area school children, the Orchestra’s music education program is a core value of the Orchestra.

Joyous support for the Orchestra was evident all evening!

Watch this space. Exciting announcements coming.

The San Diego Chamber Orchestra will be making two major announcements soon! Watch for your eNotes.

It's all good news!
