Frank
Renk
Clarinet, Principal
"Performing gives me a sense of fulfillment that
is hard to get elsewhere. It is not unlike hitting the
game winning home run in a baseball game, but we get that feeling
every time we perform including rehearsals. It is vocation
and avocation rolled into one," explains Frank. Born
in Liverpool, England, Frank began studying the clarinet in
the sixth grade when his family moved to the Bay area. Frank’s
mother brought home a recording of Mozart’s Clarinet
Concerto and Frank was quickly captivated. Upon attending the
San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Frank met his future wife
Sheryl, also a clarinetist and both of whom hold positions
in the San Diego Symphony wind section.”We don't
know any other place where that has happened," says Frank.”We're
very proud of it.”
