John
MacFerran Wilds
Trumpet, Principal
Family
and heritage have played a significant role in John’s musical
career. His father, a fan of classical music and a trombonist
himself, introduced John to the basics of music via the highland
bagpipe. To this day, John’s view of music and performance
is strongly influenced by the pride and tradition of a Celtic
heritage. John explains, "I am hopelessly addicted to the
heroic/romantic nature of my instrument. I love to take
the ideas of composers and give them life in the present.” Bringing
music to life and making a personal connection is what the Chamber
Orchestra strives to do. John puts it clearly when he states, "I
love what I do, I love my colleagues, and I am very connected
to my friends and family.”
