2008-2009, A Season of Celebrations, Announced
The San Diego Chamber Orchestra, under the leadership of Artistic Director, Jung-Ho Pak, is capitalizing on its highly successful 2007-08 season by announcing its 25th season with one of the most exciting line-up of concerts ever.
Celebrating its twenty-five years of stability, and focusing on a bright future, the Orchestra's new vision of providing "the next generation of the classical music experience" through innovative programming, beautiful music and a total high-quality customer experience that begins with the purchase of a ticket and lasts through the last note of a concert will be expanded even more during this season of celebrations. Pops Concerts Announced
Pops at the Center! The Orchestra is performing three pops concert at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, this season.
August 10 - Pops In the Park (next to CCAE), 7:00 p.m.
A mixture of American favorites and some jazz, featuring local personality and crooner, Dave Scott (from KUSI) and local jazz great Bill Watrous.
September 20 - Pops At the Center, 4:00 p.m.
Experience the best of the best from the legendary geniuses Rodgers and Hammerstein and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The greatest hits of Broadway: The Sound of Music, The King and I, Oklahoma, South Pacific, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Evita, Sunset Boulevard. It's all here! Featuring three fabulous New York Broadway singers.
Beethoven and Jennifer Frautschi…A Fantastic Pairing!
Grammy Award nominee and Avery Fischer Prize recipient Jennifer Frautschi has
thrilled audiences across the globe. Concertgoers to the April concerts will
experience the intensity and electricity of Frautschi’s playing and the
genius of Beethoven in his demanding and dramatic Violin Concerto.
Maestro Pak combines Beethoven’s farewell to the Classical
Era, his humorous and energetic Second Symphony with the Piano
Concerto for a striking season finale for the Orchestra’s
Classics Series. More...
The Media Zeroes In On Maestro Pak and the Orchestra
Maestro Pak and the Orchestra musicians have had a series of interviews
and appearances on radio and TV media during the month of March,
most of which centered around the March concert, Surprise Surprise!,
and the world premiere of “Concerto for Theremin,” composed
by Linda Kernohan and played by the Orchestra’s oboist Scott
Paulson.
The KUSI story focused on Jung-Ho’s vision for the Orchestra
and featured a rehearsal with the musicians.
This Orchestra is creating quite an excitement in the San Diego
area!

Learn about life in the fast lane for musicians. This month’s
guest is renowned young violinist Jennifer Frautschi. A violinist
at age three, she later attended Harvard, Juilliard School of Music,
and is an Avery Fisher Prize Winner!
Celebrated in New York and in European’s best-known venues,
Jennifer is rapidly gaining acclaim as an adventurous performer with
a wide-ranging repertoire.

Surprise Surprise! A Concert Like No Other

New Talk Show Series, "For the Love of Music," Launched
in Rancho Santa Fe
Hosted by Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director of the San Diego Chamber
Orchestra
The San Diego Chamber Orchestra and the Rancho Santa Fe Community
Center are partnering to anchor a new talk show series, "For
the Love of Music," at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Modeled
after the format of the Bravo TV show, "Inside the Actors'
Studio," the series is hosted by Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director
of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra and features a guest on each
program.
The first program of the series on February 12 featured Valerie
Scher, San Diego Union-Tribune's Classical Music Critic, as an
on-stage guest. She discussed the insider's life of a music reviewer
in today's world of media. The audience was given the opportunity
to ask questions during the last few minutes of the program. More

The next show will feature violinist Jennifer
Frautschi, an Avery
Fisher Career Grant Recipient who is rapidly gaining acclaim as
an adventurous performer with a wide-ranging repertoire. As the
Chicago Tribune recently wrote, "the young violinist Jennifer
Frautschi is molding a career with smart interpretations of both
warhorses and rarities."
